With a properly written will, you make all the decisions. You decide not only who gets what, but when the heirs will get their allocation. You are able to designate what happens to the assets. Ideally, you will have all of your assets listed in your trust. A will should designate who will get the items not listed in your trust, e.g., the television, furniture, appliances, clothes, jewelry, pictures, stereo, etc. Remember, if you have significant assets, i.e. real estate, your will will most likely go through probate court.
