Grants and loans are available through the federal Government, private foundations, and the small business administration.  The federal government is the largest single donor to Non Profit Organizations and private businesses.  The state and federal agencies have free money, usually through direct grants that do not have to be paid back. Low interest loans are available through the states.  They will make direct loans at low interest, or even cosign a commercial bank loan.  The U.S. Department of education offers several student financial aid programs.  Many are grants that do not have to be repaid. There are grants for women and minorities.  Specific grant types include but not limited to:

  • Grants for College
  • Grants for Business Start-up
  • Grants for Existing Businesses
  • Grants for Legal Assistance
  • Grants for Single Mothers
  • Grants for Minorities
  • Grants for Housing
  • Grants for Youth Assistance

Research the various grants and see how many you can apply for.  There is no rule that says you can’t apply for more than one program.  Obtain the five digit grant ID number of the various government grants and apply for as many as you like by completing the Application for Federal Assistance form 424.  I will complete the form for a nominal fee. Applications to the Small Business Administration for loans require that a business plan be written and submitted.
